I have been part of the Lakeland Centre for FASD team for over 5 years now and work as part of the 2nd Floor Women’s Centre team as the Residential Supervisor/Addictions Services Coordinator.
I worked as a Teacher Assistant for many years and as my two children grew older I wanted to pursue my passion for learning more about the complex field of addictions and recovery. I started my education journey with Portage College in Cold Lake and graduated in 2009 with a Social Work Diploma. Shortly after graduating I started working at a local co-ed treatment centre and gained hands on experience working with folks with very complex needs. In 2011 I was accepted into the University of Calgary’s Social Work Degree Program and graduated in 2013.
As the Residential Supervisor/Addictions Coordinator I have the best of both worlds, I get to step into a leadership role and work alongside a wonderful dedicated staff who all play a valuable role in running a successful program like the 2nd Floor. I also have the opportunity to build relationships with the ladies who stay at the 2nd Floor and assist in some way in their personal recovery journey.
