Seeking Temporary Nurse (LPN/RN) until June 30, 2024
(5 hours per week, flexible hours, depending on the number of clients and their healthcare needs.)

The 2nd Floor is a long-term live in treatment program for women who are pregnant, or at risk of getting pregnant and are motivated to stop using drugs & alcohol. This gender specific program is unique in that it focuses on changing future behavior through relationship building, life skills, strengths based and developing positive community connections. It is not a requirement of the program that the women have FASD.
The 2nd Floor is seeking a casual Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse to oversee the health of women in the program. Duties include (but are not limited to) client prenatal health care, monitoring medications including medication reconciliation on admission, medication administration reports for use, and ordering prescriptions. The Nurse will provide workshops to clients on relevant health issues such as contraception, sexual health education, or FASD and providing training to staff (when necessary)
Qualifications:
- RN or LPN
- OBS experience essential
- Experience with women experiencing problematic substance use will be considered an asset
- Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software applications will be considered an asset
Skillsets:
- Functional understanding of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder;
- Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to marginalized populations;
- Knowledge of current issues, trends, community needs and literature in relation to substance use, addictions and pregnancy;
- Ability to accept diverse health beliefs and practice in a non-judgmental fashion;
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills;
- Superior health education and counselling skills with knowledge of community resources;
