I am Helda Klassen. I have been the 2nd Floor Kitchen Manager for five years. I have been a cook for 30 plus years. My first cooking experience was helping my 4-H club cater and former 4-H member’s wedding. I was in the kitchen with Mom and Grandma learning our old country meals, at a very early age. I started in a restaurant as a dishwasher, but within a few short months I transferred to breakfast line cook and 3:30am comes mighty quickly.
I have worked as, line cook, buffet cook, 1st cook, 2nd cook, breakfast cook, night shift supervisor baker and owned my own tiny little restaurant where I did everything including serving customers.
I enjoy working at the 2nd Floor Women’s Recovery Centre. Teaching the clients, the importance of cooking from scratch, and with a few simple ingredients and well balanced meal can be prepared economically.
