How We Help

The Lakeland Centre For Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (LCFASD) is a not-for-profit organization with offices throughout northeast Alberta to provide a helping hand to people at any age or stage of life. Since 1994, the LCFASD has been on the forefront of providing lifelong care for children and women affected by substance use during pregnancy. From birth through to adulthood, we’re there educating, nurturing and supporting people from all walks of life.

A History of Helping Hands

The Lakeland Centre For Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder was the first FASD childhood diagnostic clinic in the province and the first adult FASD diagnostic clinic in the country. Since 1994, we’ve been paving the way in achieving our vision of having a region in which there are no new FASD births–inspiring support, research and prevention across the country and around the world.

quote

“The LCFASD continues to be an amazing leader in the field of FASD: developing many programs first, for others to build on; and with amazing volunteers and employees.”

Executive Director

Knowledge Center

Prenatal exposure to alcohol can happen to any of us. FASD doesn’t discriminate, and sometimes diagnosis can stem from an innocent evening out at a work gathering, prior to the knowledge of being pregnant. We’ve compiled this knowledge centre so that you can join in the movement to help spread the word and prevent FASD.
