Jada Favel – Mother’s to be Mentor

May 25, 2018 | In:

My name is Jada Favel and I am the Mother-to-be Mentor for Beaver Lake Cree Nation. I am originally from Whitefish Lake First Nation and am currently living in Lac La Biche where I also work out of the sub office for Lakeland Centre for FASD. I am currently finishing my last year of the Bachelor of Social Work program with the University of Calgary and I am ever so excited. I also have a background as a Licensed Practical Nurse and have worked in that field for a while. I became passionate with the field of social work when I was working side by side with one in homecare and it was my coworkers at the time who encouraged me to do what I feel most about. So that’s where my social work journey started. I have completed the community social work program at Portage College in June 2015 and I have been in this position with LCFASD since July 2015. I cannot be in a better position, I love my job and the agency. The work as a MTBM is beyond rewarding as we have many great successes and relationships with our clients and the communities we serve. I love serving my community of Beaver Lake as they are a warm and welcoming community. I also cannot forget to mention my four amazing sons and my wonder girl daughter, whom are my world. The Mother to be Mentorship program is amazing in so many ways, we have such a strong team and connect and support each other very well. This kind of work is very rewarding. As a Mother to be Mentor we support women and their families and other supports in leading safe and healthy pregnancies in the best and nonjudgmental way possible. Along with this is the support needed in all aspects of everyday living for our women. The thanks we get from our ladies is the most rewarding and beyond the best. Love it
