The 2nd Floor is a live-in addiction recovery program for women who are pregnant, or at risk of getting pregnant and are motivated to stop using drugs & alcohol. This gender specific program is unique in that it focuses on changing future behavior through relationship building, life skills, strengths based and developing positive community connections. It is not a requirement that the women have FASD. The front-line role is an ‘on the floor position’. Team members are responsible for carrying out assigned duties including the delivery of various life skills programming, engaging and participating in programming, facilitating attendance at group support meetings, monitoring clients’ where abouts and health and well being; the delivery of medication and meals as required.
Post-secondary education in human services, social work or recreational programs for youth/adults will be considered and asset; experience working with at risk female populations will be considered and asset; Understanding of problematic substance use will be considered an asset; a valid drivers license.
Effective listening skills; strong interpersonal, relationship building & conflict resolution skills; creative problem solving; effective time & stress management skills; ability to be self-directed and work with minimal supervision while simultaneously acting as a part of the 2nd Floor team; Capacity to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds; Non-judgmental attitude (ie: demonstrates a sensitivity to diversity, poverty and minority issues); creativity and ability to take initiative.
Days/Nights/Overnights and Weekend shift work.
